The Los Angeles Rams’ Super Bowl aspirations received a massive boost on Sunday after Aaron Donald came out of retirement to sign a one-year contract for the 2026 season.
The three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year’s partnership with Rams defensive end Myles Garrett has made the NFC West franchise a strong contender for the Super Bowl at SoFi Stadium next year.

NFL insider Adam Schefter outlined the Rams’ high-profile defensive additions this offseason, which include Donald, Garrett, cornerbacks Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson, to sound alarm bells for other teams.

“If he’s 90 percent, just think about what that means to the Rams defense,” Schefter said. “A great team has gotten much better with all the additions they made in the offseason. These are not just good players. These are great players. Myles Garrett and Aaron Donald are all-time players. Garrett’s gonna be in the Hall of Fame, Aaron Donald’s gonna be in the Hall of Fame.

“The last time the Super Bowl was in LA, Aaron Donald helped make a play at the end of the game that won the Super Bowl in their Stadium. The Super Bowl is back in that stadium and the Rams are fully intending to return to another Super Bowl in SoFi Stadium. I don’t know the last time we had a team heading into the season that was this much the favorite in a league where all these teams are so evenly matched.”
Apart from the defensive additions, the Rams also boast one of the most efficient offenses with reigning NFL MVP Matthew Stafford under center.

Following the return of Aaron Donald, the Rams have (+500) odds to win the Super Bowl with the Josh Allen-led Buffalo Bills in second place with (+1000) odds, according to BetMGM.
Donald said he has talked with teammate Myles Garrett through text messages and hopes to do “some special things together” in Los Angeles.
“I talked to Myles through text messages a few times,” Donald said. “I got to talk a little bit with him today. Yeah, we’re teammates now, so we’re getting to know each other a lot closer, being around each other a lot more, and hopefully we’ll do some special things together.”
