ONE SAMURAI 1: “Aggression, violence, and entertainment”

Multi-time kickboxing world champion Marat Grigorian has a clear picture of how April 29 ends. Hint: the way he gets there should look very familiar to anyone who has watched him fight.

The 34-year-old Armenian knockout machine takes on Japanese warrior Kaito Ono in a featherweight kickboxing showdown at ONE SAMURAI 1, taking place at the Ariake Arena on Wednesday, April 29.

He arrives in Tokyo with unfinished business after the controversy that derailed the original booking at ONE 172. Now, with the rematch finally locked in and the Japanese crowd expecting a war, Marat Grigorian intends to deliver one of his trademark performances on a stage tailor-made for them.

The Hemmers Gym standout has spent his entire career building a reputation that needs no marketing department to sell. He has produced 69 career victories and enjoyed three Glory kickboxing world title reigns.

The blueprint, he insists, has not changed for fight night.

Speaking exclusively to Sportskeeda MMA ahead of fight night in Tokyo, Japan, the Hemmers Gym athlete laid out exactly what fans should expect from him at ONE SAMURAI 1.

“The winning image I have in my head is me getting my hand raised, with the fans cheering and supporting me. As for how I’d do it, you guys can stay tuned. What I can tell now is I’m very strong, and I’m at the peak of my form. So, expect the usual Marat Grigorian in Japan, aggression, violence, and entertainment,” the 34-year-old told Sportskeeda MMA.

Marat Grigorian thrilled for the chance to fight on another stacked ONE card in Japan

During his pre-fight interview with ONE Championship, meanwhile, Marat Grigorian bared his excitement to be a part of ONE SAMURAI 1.

“It’s the home of the sport. I’m happy to see it come back in a big way with this ONE SAMURAI 1 card. Japan is where legends are made, and being part of this event is something special,” he revealed.

Grigorian’s last promotional appearance came inside the very same venue. He dished out a strong three-round clinic against Rukiya Anpo to claim a unanimous decision triumph at ONE 173 inside the Ariake Arena.
