The tweet quickly grabbed the attention of Pistons fans, who reacted to their team’s insane feat while praising their star guard.
@LegionHoops Cade Cunningham is officially the best point guard in the East. I don’t want to hear about Tyrese Haliburton or Jalen Brunson until they do this in an elimination game.
@LegionHoops CADE CUNNINGHAM IS FUCKING HIM
@LegionHoops @NBAPR A 24 point road comeback while facing elimination is the kind of thing that breaks franchises or builds them forever. Detroit has not had a moment like this in two decades and the fact that it happened with Cade Cunningham leading it makes this even bigger. The Pistons are not
While Detroit fans rejoiced over Cunningham’s performance and the comeback, many also viewed it as a choke job by the Orlando Magic.
@LegionHoops One of the biggest collapses by the Magic of all-time. Simply incredible. They are gonna get run off the court in game 7. No way to overcome this brutal loss.
@LegionHoops @AshNicoleMoss Or more like one of the GREATEST CHOKE JOBS of all time!!!
Though opinions remained divided over the outcome of the game, it was a bit of both. The Magic were cruising at the halfway mark, holding a 22-point advantage, and extended the lead to 24 early in the third quarter.
However, the team then missed 23 consecutive shots from the field, allowing the Pistons to take full advantage of the slump.
Detroit went on a 35-5 run during that stretch, cutting the deficit, before a defensive masterclass in the final quarter saw them outscore Orlando 55-19 in the second half.
Cade Cunningham was the star of the show during this remarkable comeback, as the Pistons resuscitated themselves from the brink of elimination. The guard dropped 32 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while shooting 10–23 from the field.
Meanwhile, Tobias Harris chipped in with 22 points for the Pistons, as the No. 1 seed came back from 3-1 down to level the series.
Detroit will now host the Magic in Game 7 as they look to complete one of the greatest comeback arcs in playoff history.
Cade Cunningham highlights his team’s “grit” while reflecting on their incredible comeback win
After pulling off one of the greatest playoff comebacks on Saturday, Cade Cunningham reflected on the moment during an on-court interview with Allie Cliffton.
The guard praised his team during the interaction, while highlighting the “grit” they had to dig themselves out of a hole.
“Never say die. Simple as that,” Cunningham said. “I mean, Detroit grit is what we’ve been talking about all year. And that’s a great job of staying with it and continuing to fight.”
The Pistons will consider them favorites in Game 7 as they host the Magic at Little Caesars Arena on Sunday.
