The Raji Kaliyuga gameplay trailer debuted in May 2026, showcasing a glimpse of what to expect with respect to story, exploration, and combat. The video reminded me of Prince of Persia with Raji wallrunning a section and Black Myth Wukong with the staff-based combat. The gameplay trailer has also sparked criticism from the audience regarding the accent of one of the two protagonists.
Raji Kaliyuga continues the tale of Raji from the first game. The sequel’s Steam blurb states:
“Six years after the great war, destiny bleeds into prophecy as gods and mortals blur. Raji, the warrior of faith, and Darsh, the dreamwalker, face Mahabalasura’s wrath as he tears open heaven’s gates, unleashing Kaliyuga-an age where every choice can unmake the universe.”
Raji Kaliyuga’s gameplay trailer is equal measure exciting and concerning
Raji Kaliyuga’s tone seems darker compared to the first title in the series. The gameplay trailer takes place at night in a mystical land borne out of mythical lore and characters. The enemy design and varieties seem better, too, this time around. The combat is quick, with Raji using the divine Trishul much like how Black Myth Wukong’s protagonist uses his staff.
Nodding Heads Games also promises distinctive gameplay and combat styles between the two protagonists. Raji utilizes her “acrobatic martial arts” and a “customized evasion system,” whereas Darsh has the power to control “Siddhis to manipulate gravity, time, and energy” along with a “siddhi-yielding system”. Raji’s evading enemy attacks also seems to leave an afterimage of her (akin to Black Myth Wukong’s system).

The Prince of Persia inspiration also feels evident to me in how the game designs exploration (the wallrunning specifically) and some of its combat. None of this makes Raji Kaliyuga a derivative game, though. It does feel it has its own identity with the story it is trying to tell, the characters it has chosen, and the gameplay. The dual combat system will also add freshness and variety in how players choose to approach the game. We can only say for sure once the title launches.
But the biggest gripe currently with the Raji Kaliyuga gameplay trailer is with the accent of Darsh. One comment on the IndianGaming subreddit wrote:
“Gameplay looks good but voice acting sounds like stereotypical indian guy from western tv shows.”
Being an Indian-developed game based on Indian mythology, the current voice-over does sound questionable. The gameplay trailer’s official X post from Nodding Heads Games is also filled with complaints about Darsh’s voice sounding like “how Hollywood portrays the English accent of Indians, which is surely exaggerated”. Thankfully, the developers have responded:
“We are aware of the feedback. The game is still far from release, so yes, we’re listening!”
With no release date announced yet, Nodding Heads Games has plenty of time to fine-tune and polish Raji Kaliyuga based on this early feedback.
