Al-Ahli are reportedly interested in signing Real Madrid star Federico Valverde. However, the Spanish giants are unwilling to part ways with the midfielder this summer.
Valverde has been a crucial player for Los Blancos in recent seasons and is also their second captain after Dani Carvajal. He has scored nine goals and provided 13 assists in 47 games across competitions. He can play in midfield and right-back and has been effective in both positions.
Thanks for the submission!
Hence, according to Sports Illustrated (via Tribal Football), Al-Ahli are preparing a huge offer for Valverde. In recent years, former Real Madrid stars like Karim Benzema and Nacho Hernandez have joined the Saudi Pro League. Al-Ahli are now hoping to add Valverde to the list.
However, as per the report, Los Blancos are unwilling to let him leave this summer. They have stated that the Uruguayan midfielder is not for sale. His contract expires in 2029, and it would take a highly significant offer to change their stance.
Valverde joined Real Madrid Castilla from Penarol in 2016. He has made 370 senior appearances for them, scoring 41 goals and providing 44 assists.
When Real Madrid star Federico Valverde slammed rumors about him not wanting to play
Real Madrid faced Kairat Almaty away in the UEFA Champions League in September last year. The Spanish giants hammered them 5-0 in the league stage under Xavi Alonso. However, Valverde didn’t feature in the game and remained on the bench. Some reports suggested that he refused to play in a defensive position.
The 27-year-old then put out a statement on social media, dismissing such reports. He wrote:
“I have read several articles damaging my reputation. I know I’ve had bad games, I’m aware of it. I’m not hiding, and I face the criticism head-on. I’m truly sad. People can say many things about me, but under no circumstances can they say that I refuse to play.”
“I have given everything and more for this club, I’ve played while fractured, injured, and I’ve never complained or asked for a break… I’ve left my heart and soul in this club and I will continue to do so, even if sometimes it’s not enough or I’m not playing as I’d like. I swear on my pride that I will never give up and will fight until the end, playing wherever I’m needed,” he added.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid parted ways with Xabi Alonso in January this year and appointed Alvaro Arbeloa as the head coach.
