Stephen A. Smith argues whether blaming Jayden Daniels for putting Dan Quinn in hot seat is correct

The Washington Commanders had an opportunity to beat the New York Giants in overtime during their Week 5 clash after quarterback Jayden Daniels was sacked.

After the game ended in a 27-27 tie, Pro Bowl linebacker Micah Parsons blamed the Commanders quarterback for putting Washington coach Dan Quinn’s job on the hot seat.

“Jayden Daniels probably cost my man Dan Quinn his job, to be honest with you,” Parsons said.

While the Packers star’s comments about Daniels have stirred controversy, NFL analyst Stephen A. Smith defended Parsons’ stance.

“I am sick and tired of people in the media thinking that athletes don’t have a right to speak their mind,” Smith said. “But at the end of the day, he ain’t a member of the Washington Commanders. He doesn’t owe Jayden Daniels anything, okay?

“If anything, you know what, he’s going to side with Dan Quinn, and so it makes perfect sense. But most importantly, he has the credentials to do it. He knows what he’s talking about. What he said was absolutely correct and he said it about a man he supports because he helped make Micah Parsons the player he is.”

Parsons, who made his NFL debut with the Dallas Cowboys in 2021, was helped by Quinn, who joined Dallas as their defensive coordinator that year. Parsons won the Defensive Rookie of the Year award under Quinn.

Packers star Micah Parsons called out Jayden Daniels’ lack of urgency

Micah Parsons, who has earned a Pro Bowl nod in each of his five NFL seasons, is recovering from a torn ACL and meniscus in his knee. Parsons also called out Jayden Daniels for his lack of urgency after taking the sack against the Giants.

“There’s no way I’m taking a sack with 14 seconds left and no timeouts,” Parsons said. “And, mind you, it’d be different if Jayden Daniels was a rookie. This is your third year.

“You’ve been to the NFC championship game, you’ve been in big moments before. To me, even after the sack, you’re casually getting up. … I’m like, ‘You just took a sack …’ He’s not even urgently getting up.”

Parsons is expected to miss the Packers’ Week 6 game against his former team, the Dallas Cowboys, on Sunday.
