Super Bowl champion demands “pompous” Caitlin Clark to “look in the mirror” after being disrespected in WNBA

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has been in the news after Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas’ controversial contact with the WNBA phenom during Wednesday’s game.

Thomas appeared to drive her fist into Clark’s neck and throat area during the second quarter. However, the play went unnoticed by the refs, sparking controversy on social media.

Wednesday’s incident has sparked allegations of Clark being “targeted” by players and teams. However, former Super Bowl champion T.J. Ward said that Clark invites the roughness because of her behaviour. He said on the “Speakeasy” podcast:

“I think Caitlin’s problem is what you mentioned: she’s privileged, she’s a brat and she’s a great player, but that’s what gets her in trouble. You don’t see these issues with Paige Bueckers and Sabrina Ionescu and some of the other players, you know why, cuz they’re nice. And if you can’t fight, uh, you better be a nice person.

“I wouldn’t go the fighting route because as soon as one person sees you getting knocked upside the head successfully. That fighting route is out. Everybody is just gonna knock you in the head when you try to fight. I think she needs to stop being so privileged, pompous and needs to have more manners, be more friendly, be more sisterly.”

While the contact from Thomas went unnoticed by the refs, the Phoenix Mercury forward received a Flagrant Foul 2 penalty and a one-game suspension after the league reviewed her play.
