My Bias, My Boss: A closer look at the story, cast and central love triangle

My Bias, My Boss follows the story of Nam Da-reum, a devoted fan of idol Lee Chan, a member of the group D.N.X who is also associated with the fashion startup Appello. Hoping to become a successful fan by working close to her favorite celebrity, Da-reum joins the company as a new employee.

However, her plans quickly fall apart after she discovers that Kang Ha-gi, the company’s CEO, is the same man she accidentally assaulted while being drunk during an earlier encounter when she was trying to defend her favorite idol. On the other hand, Lee Chan, the idol who has inspired Da-reum to join Appello, spends little time at the office because of his busy entertainment career.

As a result, instead of enjoying the fan experience she imagined, Da-reum finds herself constantly crossing paths with her demanding boss and struggling to adjust to the challenges of her new workplace.

While trying to gain Kang Ha-gi’s approval at work, Da-reum unintentionally gives him the impression that she is romantically interested in him. At the same time, Lee Chan mistakes Da-reum’s nervous behavior around him as dislike and hostility.

These misunderstandings further complicate Da-reum’s hopes of developing a closer relationship with the idol she has admired for years. As the story progresses, Da-reum also becomes caught up in misunderstandings surrounding the long standing relationship between Kang Ha-gi and Lee Chan. She comes to know a secret connected to the two men and must protect it.

Kim Hye-jun stars as Nam Da-reum, the cheerful and determined new employee whose lifelong dream is to become the employee of her favorite idol. Although she initially joins Appello purely because of Lee Chan, she gradually finds herself navigating difficult workplace situations while balancing her professional responsibilities with her emotions.

Kang Hoon plays Kang Ha-gi, the CEO of the fashion startup Appello. Initially suspicious of Da-reum after noticing her unusual behavior around him, he believes she is deliberately trying to get close to him. As he continues observing her, he unexpectedly starts developing feelings for her.

Cha Woo-min portrays Lee Chan, Da-reum’s longtime favorite idol and a member of D.N.X. After meeting Da-reum at the company, he becomes increasingly curious about her. His growing interest slowly develops into genuine affection soon. The relationship gradually moves beyond the typical boundary between celebrity and fan.

Recently released teaser videos of My Bias, My Boss have previewed the evolving relationships between Da-reum, Kang Ha-gi, and Lee Chan. One teaser focuses on Kang Ha-gi’s gradual realization that his feelings for Da-reum are changing, despite his repeated attempts to deny them. Another teaser highlights Lee Chan’s growing affection as he becomes increasingly interested in Da-reum after their encounters inside the office.

A separate teaser begins with Da-reum declaring her determination to become the employee of her favorite idol before showing her adapting to life at Appello. The teasers also emphasize Da-reum’s unwavering devotion to Lee Chan through the fan merchandise she carries and her excitement whenever she encounters him. Meanwhile, both Kang Ha-gi and Lee Chan gradually become drawn to her for different reasons, setting up the drama’s central romantic conflict.

Seong Eun’s popular Naver webtoon My Oppa Is an Idol has accumulated around 660 million global views. Based on this webtoon My Bias, My Boss adapts the original story into an office romance. It blends fandom culture with workplace comedy. The series also follows Da-reum’s professional development as she grows from an inexperienced new employee into someone capable of finding her place within the company while navigating complicated relationships with both her boss and her longtime idol.
