On June 10, 2026, MyDaily reported that Park Yoon-ho has been cast as the male lead in the upcoming tvN drama Promoter.
Park Yoon-ho will play Jang Jeong-gu, a WBC light flyweight boxer. Jang Jeong-gu comes from a difficult family background and starts boxing at age 12. He possesses talent that allows him to dominate amateur competitions, but faces repeated disqualifications at championship levels due to educational requirements. After turning professional, he catches the attention of Shim Young-ja.
Promoter is based on the real-life story of Shim Young-ja, South Korea’s first female boxing promoter. Honey Lee plays the role of Shim Young-ja.
The story follows the partnership between the female promoter and the hardworking boxer as they navigate challenges on the path to him becoming a world champion. It is described as a cheerful human sports drama filled with emotional moments of tears, conflicts, support, and growth.
Previously, that the role of the boxer had been offered to Park Ji-hoon and later to Jang Dong-yoon. Both actors ultimately did not take the part due to scheduling conflicts. Writer Ryu Kyung-sun, known for Long Live the King, handles the script. The show is directed by Lee Jong-seok.
