Tony Khan announces huge AEW debut has been canceled

Tony Khan just made a blockbuster announcement a few moments ago. He has revealed the unfortunate news that a highly-awaited AEW debut has been cancelled with just an hour till tonight’s show.

This year’s edition of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament has been unpredictable to say the least, especially the women’s bracket. Apart from this, featuring several top names on the roster, there have been surprise entrants, including Hazuki from Stardom, who recently made her debut.

Mercedes Moné even emerged as a surprise entrant after she was revealed to be the wildcard who replaced the injured Willow Nightingale. There was going to be a third dark horse in the tournament, former WWE Superstar Sareee (FKA Sarray). The Japanese freelancer was set to make her debut later tonight on AEW Dynamite against Skye Blue as part of the opening round of the tournament.

This match has been delayed due to the 30-year-old dealing with some neck issues, and she is looking to get clearance from Japanese doctors. It was mentioned how she was cleared to fly to the United States, but unfortunately, AEW doctors could not clear her.

During a livestream on X/Twitter before the show, Tony Khan addressed the situation and revealed that Sareee will not be able to compete later tonight. He revealed that she will be replaced by Maya World.

This comes as a surprise as Maya recently revealed that they were dealing with a loss in the family, as her brother passed away. TK mentioned how originally they gave her some time off to be with her family, but she wanted to wrestle tonight.

It will be interesting to see who comes out on top as this match has become completely unpredictable. Unfortunately, Sareee’s AEW debut has been postponed, but given how Tony Khan does things, she’ll eventually be able to compete for the company when she is fully cleared.
